We sent an open letter of inquiry “Re: Your Press Conference (September 11) on Fukushima Health Management Survey” to Professor Shinichi Suzuki, Fukushima Medical University, Dean of Department of Organ Regulatory Surgery; Chair of the Thyroid Examination Division, Radiation Medical Science Center.

   We pointed out that Fukushima Medical University’s “Fukushima Health Management Survey” is not based on the principle of protecting citizens from radiation hazards caused by the TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi NPP accident, because Professor Suzuki emphasized that the reported case of thyroid cancer is not related to radiation exposure.  We asked 10 questions to Professor Suzuki including the following: “It is reported that a secret meeting prior to the Sept.11 “Fukushima Health Management Survey” Review Committee meeting to confirm with the committee members about the case of thyroid cancer to have no causal relation with the accident.  As a thyroid specialist what did you comment on this matter and what agreement did you and your fellow members reach then?”
